The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has set the optional standard mileage rate for automobiles driven for business purposes at 70 cents per mile for 2025. That is a 3-cent increase from last year. The rate for vehicles driven for other purposes will remain the same as they were in 2024.
The IRS lists the following standard mileage rates for 2025 on their website:
- 70 cents per mileĀ driven for business use, up 3 cents from 2024.
- 21 cents per mile driven for medical purposes, the same as in 2024.
- 21 cents per mile driven for moving purposes for qualified active-duty members of the Armed Forces, unchanged from last year.
- 14 cents per mile driven in service of charitable organizations, equal to the rate in 2024.
